Interprofessional Critical Care Network

Advancing critical care through knowledge, collaboration, and purpose.

New research is published every day — but long shifts, family, and clinical demand make it hard to keep up. ICCN was built to close that gap.

About the Founder

Who We Are

My name is Javier Amador-Castaneda, BHS, RRT, FCCM, PNAP — Founder and CEO of ICCN, and a Respiratory Care Practitioner at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in NYC. My career has been rooted in academic and high-acuity clinical environments.

  • Columbia University Irving Medical Center
  • Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
  • The Mount Sinai Hospital
  • The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania

I graduated with honors from Gwynedd Mercy University and have dedicated my career to advancing respiratory and critical care medicine — with a focus on mechanical ventilation, ARDS, airway management, and patient-centered care.

My journey has been shaped not only by clinical practice, but also by service. As a United States Army veteran, I learned early the value of discipline, resilience, and teamwork — principles that continue to guide my leadership today.

Through my involvement with organizations such as the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and recognition including the Presidential Citation Award and Fellowship in the American College of Critical Care Medicine, I have had the privilege of contributing to the advancement of our field.

Knowledge must be accessible to make an impact.

Our Story

How ICCN Started

ICCN did not begin as a company. It began as a simple idea — a way to connect clinicians and share knowledge. We started as a Facebook group, then expanded to LinkedIn, where the response was immediate and powerful.

A Simple Idea

One clinician, one question: how do we help bedside providers stay current without burning out?

A Facebook Group

The first community formed organically — therapists, nurses, and physicians sharing what they were reading.

LinkedIn Movement

The One Article a Day Challenge and Mechanical Ventilation Newsletter went global within months.

A Global Network

Substack, YouTube, and the ICCN company page now reach thousands of clinicians across every continent.

Our Mission

Critical care is not built by one profession — it is built through collaboration.

At ICCN, our mission is to facilitate the dissemination of critical care knowledge and make high-quality education accessible to every member of the healthcare team — and beyond.

  • Respiratory therapists
  • Physicians & intensivists
  • Nurses & APPs
  • Healthcare students
